IOWA JPEC

September 2017 - May 2018

As a marketing intern for the Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC), I consistently researched startups and interview individuals to create stories for our websites, social media posts for our accounts, and releases to communicate to the public. I created, executed, and evaluated social media campaigns for Iowa JPEC's FacebookTwitter, and email accounts. By creating a fun, semi-formal tone on social media, I was able to create awareness of our programs, and increase face-to-face engagement.

UI DANCE CLUB

May 2014 - May 2018

During my time as part of the University of Iowa Dance Club, one of the largest student organizations on the UI campus, I held and enjoyed various positions.

From May 2015 - May 2018 I was a UIDC Jazz Captain. Weekly, I choreographed and taught new technical and artistic dance combinations which were featured in a 3 minute long piece in the annual Benefit Show. I also facilitated in-class bonding events and led performances for on-campus and semi-professional sporting events.

From May 2016 - May 2017, I took on the role of Marketing Chair. I handled all Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Email communications. I revamped the organizations' social media by creating a positive, fun tone on social media channels that featured many club members to increase engagement. I wrote emails, designed posters, and partnered with other organizations to further enhance UIDC's reputation.

In my four years as part of this club, I developed a deeper passion for dance  and connecting with people than I ever thought possible. I was very honored to be elected President of the UIDC for the 2013-2014 university year. As President, I worked with a team to schedule classes, practices, and performances; led bi-weekly team meetings for a 30-perosn team; handled all club finances; organized the annual Benefit Show for ~200 club members and ~400 audience members.

THE WHOLE STORY

January 2017 - December 2017

In 2017 I created The Whole Story, a personal blog focused on events in my life which I then expanded to make them relatable to a wider audience, specifically college women. In doing so, I created a brand that's driven by authenticity, transparency, and little bit of young-adult angst.

DVIP

September 2017 - December 2017

Through a Social Media Marketing class, a team of peers and I partnered with the Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) to revamp their social media and create a consistent brand. I worked closely with the media relations director to learn about the DVIP and create a strategy that my team and I predicted would increase client reach by 15% as well as increase donations to the organization.

HER CAMPUS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

January 2016 - December 2016

In 2016, I occasionally wrote articles for the Iowa chapter of Her Campus. I mainly wrote about fashion and lifestyle with a positive tone and sly sense of humor. One article (Why I Don't Read Articles About Anxiety) I wrote was even published nationally by Her Campus.

DANCE THE DAYS AWAY

September 2016 - December 2016

Dance the Days Away is a brand that ignited my interest in website creation and blogging. As the first site I ever made, I created weekly blog posts, incorporated audio and video elements, and created a Twitter account to promote the brand.

I love getting the opportunity to challenge myself creatively and technically in different ways, specifically through video platforms!
